Many people are familiar and love the song, “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong. The song points out the beauty around us in nature and conjures lovely images of warmth, friendships, and love. Although the words are nice, and the song is popular, I’ve never really felt that it was 100% accurate to say that the world is wonderful. It may be for some folks I suppose, but this definitely doesn’t apply to the 40+ million victims that currently have had their lives stolen and wrecked by the greed and wickedness that is human trafficking. The simple fact that there are cold hearted animals out there that have no problem kidnapping children and forcing them into pedophile rings, or seducing and holding women hostage in prostitution, or even taking advantage of their fellow man in forcing them into slave labor all in the name of the almighty dollar tells you that the world is not so wonderful and that monsters are very real. According to the Department of Homeland Security, human trafficking is “modern-day slavery and involves the use of force, fraud, or coercion to obtain some type of labor or commercial sex act.”

We care so much about this at Bucklebury that a portion of all proceeds will always go toward fighting human trafficking (our webstore isn’t open yet). We call this our Expand Your Heartprint™ program. You can read more about this here.

President Barak Obama made January 11 the official Human Trafficking Awareness Day. Let’s put aside political affiliations and just focus on the issue of human trafficking. We encourage YOU to take a moment and educate yourself about this important subject. On our page you will find key statistics, signs to watch out for and even a simple list of things YOU can do to Expand Your Heartprint™ by fighting human trafficking. Won’t you take a stand for those that sit right now as prisoners against their will, living in fear, broken hearted and alone?
