I've spent many hours researching magnesium supplements and their differences to greater understand what type(s) were best for my body and well-being. What I discovered is that Magnesium tends to be a top mineral that most people are deficient in. And it is essential for numerous bodily systems to work properly, including digestion and the brain. Magnesium is also necessary to bind with other vital minerals such as calcium and VIT D for bone health, along with many others. These minerals work synergistically together, as in needing each other to optimize the bodily functions.
My research pointed me to elemental magnesium glycinate and L-Theanine as the best forms to take as they are easiest to digest and most absorbable, meaning your body can absorb more of it than most other forms of magnesium.
The L-Theanine is noted to be most helpful for people with brain issues such as memory, stress/anxiety, mood, clarity and focus. So when I saw this combo in elemental form, I was quite intrigued. FYI - There are many games that supplement companies play with marketing magnesium. So you must read the label closely to avoid being duped and paying for a 'blend' of magnesium's, which typically contain mostly the lower-cheaper magnesium forms.
Magnesium in elemental form is the best and most absorbable form you can get. And this company put the top two magnesium forms in one bottle. While I really like that, I prefer taking no more than two capsules before bed, that works best for me. With this brand the recommended dosage is 3 capsules. It's not necessarily a game changer, but is only a 30-day supply. However, if you take two capsules per day like I do it lasts 45 days, making it a better value.
I also learned to start taking magnesium supplements slowly, taking less than the recommended dosage to allow my bodily systems to process it. However, many people can handle more in the beginning than others. And this brand has the top forms of magnesium in it that are known to cause minimal digestive upset, if any.
At any rate, this is a wonderful supplement that can do so much good for the body. The price seems fair for what it can do. However, I don't understand why they add black pepper extract in it and would like very much to know why. I typically only see this ingredient added to turmeric supplements to be able to digest it. The sellers listing does not address the reason or benefit of adding it, which is why I deducted one star. All ingredients should list their benefits.
